L’Été est Fini
Summer is over and Les Gets, the resort, is closing down. I like it like this, there’s a sense of calm after the last few frantic weeks of summer. Most of the visitors have left and many restaurants have closed for a few weeks to brace themselves for what will hopefully be a more normal ski season.
We headed up Mont Chéry for the final time this morning – the lift closes from this evening. The light has changed and autumn is definitely on the way, but it was beautifully warm for our walk across to Mont Caly and back. We really are making the most of every minute now, as this time next week we’ll be back in Cardiff.
After a somewhat unhealthy couple of weeks while we had guests, I got my training head back on yesterday and did a lovely 15 miles with just over 1,000 metres of ascent.
4 hours on my own in moody weather was just what I needed, followed by some lounging on the sofa before we headed out for a return trip to the magnificent Taste The Alps.
We enjoyed their 7 course tasting menu twice last summer and last night was just as good as we remembered. Fabulous food in a relaxed, informal environment – we’re already looking forward to our next visit.
Tonight sees us being spoiled yet again as we have been invited to have dinner with our friends Suzanne and Henry, who own the equally magnificent Ferme de Montagne, where we spent a wonderful, decadent week in March 2020. I suspect tomorrow’s dinner may seem a little dull in comparison.
